Friday, August 11, 2023 The City of Livingston Public Works Department is actively seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker I-II for their Parks/Landscape Division.
Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, operation, repair and maintenance of City roads and related infrastructures and City water, sewer and parks facilities and systems as assigned; assist other maintenance personnel in the performance of a variety of duties as assigned.
Maintenance Worker I:
This is the entry and first working level classification in the Maintenance Worker class series.
This level is distinguished from Maintenance Worker II by the performance of a narrow range of semi-skilled maintenance assignments under closer supervision.
Many of the assignments in this class are performed in a learning capacity.
When requisite skills and sound work habits have been demonstrated, an incumbent may be promoted to the Maintenance Worker II level.
Incumbents are assigned to one of several divisions in the Public Works Department.
Maintenance Worker II:
This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I class by the requirement of greater expertise in the operation of more types of equipment and the ability to provide lead supervision on an occasional basis.
Education and
Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:
Maintenance Worker I:
Graduation from high school or equivalent GED.
One year general maintenance experience.
Maintenance Worker II:
Graduation from high school or equivalent GED.
Two years of experience in public works construction and maintenance comparable to a Maintenance Worker I with the City of Livingston.
Licenses, Certifications and other Requirements:
Valid California Class C driver's license.
Must be available for Stand-By and on-call shift requirements.
